Founder of Turning Pointe Physical Therapy

Turning Pointe Physical Therapy was established in 2022 with the goal of offering specialized care for dancers in Ventura and Los Angeles County. Megan Gerde, DPT is the sole practitioner and President of Turning Pointe.

Megan Gerde graduated from Simmons University in Boston where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science and her doctorate in physical therapy in 2014. While at Simmons, Megan served as the President of the Simmons University Dance Company.

In Boston, Megan worked with the Boston Ballet, offering care to all professional company and second company members in- studio and backstage. Prior to being on staff, she was a contract PT for the Ballet helping with new dancer screenings and theater coverage. She also worked at Maribeth Crupi Physical Therapy LLC, a private practice specializing in the evaluation and treatment of dancers of all ages and levels spanning recreational, pre-professional, professional, and post-professional.

Megan was an active member in the Boston medical community and, most notably, co-led a discussion for the Dance Medicine Journal Club of Boston on the topic of The Hypermobile Dancer, offered pre-pointe guidance and education to dance academies, and conducted educational seminars and dancer screens for local recreational and pre-professional dance programs. Megan was also a co-presenter at IADMS (International Association of Dance Medicine and Science) on the topic of Telehealth PT for the Dancer. 

Megan has specialized experience as a former competitive dancer and gymnast. She is certified in Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA), Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM), therapeutic cupping, and is trained in Active Release Technique and the Australian Physiotherapy Pilates Institute (APPI) brand of Pilates.
